The Book of Dota guides are created with the goal to give you an in-depth understanding of all aspects of playing your chosen heroes. Even though they are long, they are meticulously structured so that you can quickly and easily find the needed knowledge. Each hero guide will give you all the necessary information to pick up a new hero or even to improve with a hero you already play well.
Nikolay "Nikobaby" Nikolov is a star on the EU & CIS pub and pro scene. He started his semi-pro career a few years ago as the carry player for Basically Uknown. Afterward, he played for teams like Effect, DD, and his biggest achievement is a 9-12 placement at TI9 with Mineski. He is currently playing as the carry of Alliance and the new team is doing very well in the new DPC season!
Niko is absolutely proficient at carrying pubs. His peak placement on the EU Leaderboards is top 3, while his highest MMR before the reset was 8.5k. According to Dotabuff's player rankings, he is the rank 1 Morphling player in the world above established pros like Ana, Ame, and Meracle, and in his pro matches he made a name for himself with heroes like Juggernaut and Wraith King. His achievements make him the perfect person to teach you how to carry your pub teammates as a pos. 1 player.
Nikobaby's extensive guide to Luna. Inside you can find everything you need to earn the favor of Selemene and carry your team to victory (updated for 7.20).
Luna is one of the fastest farmers in the game and one of the best team-fight oriented hard carries. This makes her a reliable choice for a pos. 1 hero in the safe lane and often pros return to her when the meta starts favoring 5-man Dota.
Luna is also one of the best heroes at sieging and breaking the enemy base, which enables her to use her item advantage and end the game on her own terms - an invaluable trait for pubs.
Nikobaby's extensive guide to Morphling. Inside you will find everything you need to learn to play Morph on a high level (updated for 7.20).
Morph is one of the carry heroes in the game with the highest skill cap because of his ultimate. Playing him on a very high level is difficult, but with practice, he gives you the opportunity to totally outplay your opponents and put your teammates on your back.
As mentioned, Morph is Niko's best hero. He has more than 230 pub (on his latest account) and 20 pro games on Morph with the extremely impressive 72% win rate in pubs and 80% win rate in officials. According to Dotabuff's player ranking, he is the No. 1 Morph player in the world and in officials and scrims his opponents often even first-ban Morph against him. Niko is, without a doubt, one of the best people in the world to teach you to play Morph on a high level.
PL is one of the most elusive hard carries in the game and if the enemy team doesn't have the right arsenal to deal with illusions, he can easily overtake the game and secure the victory for his team. He is a strong laner and scales amazingly with items, which makes him a reliable hard carry and a great hero to learn if you want to master the 1st position.
Niko has close to 70% win rate with PL in pubs out of 82 games with the impressive KDA of 7.26 and 75% win rate in pro games.
Weaver is a carry who, at the same time, is an extremely strong laner. His amazing mobility and elusiveness make him a very hard hero to pressure, and unlike other elusive carries who prefer to split-push and farm (i.e. Anti-Mage), Weaver is perfectly capable of fighting and even pressuring the enemy team - he can create space, not only take it. This makes him a very flexible core and a great hero to master in order to adapt to the different unplanned circumstances in pubs.
Niko has 64% win rate in pubs with Weaver in 75 games.
Nikobaby's extensive guide to Lifestealer. Inside you can find everything you need to learn to play Naix on a high level (updated 7.20).
Lifestealer has historically been one of the most popular carries in pro Dota for a good reason: he is one of the only heroes in the game with an inbuilt magic immunity, which is always useful. He is a strong laner, a powerful damage dealer and thanks to Naix bombs - situationally one of the best gankers out of the pos. 1 heroes. Naix scales well with items, but he is perfectly comfortable at fighting in the early and mid game as well, which means he can handle high-pressure games very well. All of his qualities combined make him a hero a carry player needs to have in his hero pool.
Lycan is one of the most terrifying pushers and split-pushers in Dota. He can easily snowball and secure a quick victory in pubs, but thanks to his split-pushing power he is also a hero who has the potential to win even very hard games by ratting. Because of this reason, if you master Lycan and develop a great game sense with him, you can achieve extremely high win rates and quickly increase your rank.
Nikobaby's extensive guide to Phantom Assassin. Inside you can find everything you need to one-hit your way to victory (updated for 7.21):
PA is the most played carry in pubs for a reason - landing a huge crit and a one-hit-kill on a squishy enemy is one of the most satisfying feelings in Dota. She is without a doubt one of the most fun heroes to play and master not only because of her physical nuke potential but also because of her active playstyle.
TB is a true hard carry with amazing physical DPS and pushing potential. He is great in 5-man Dota strategies thanks to his high DPS and survivability, but at the same time, he can easily out-push lanes and even split-push with his illusions.TB has amazing late game potential, but thanks to Metamorphosis and his very high armor he is not a weak laner, which makes him a popular hard carry choice in pro Dota.
Medusa is one of the heroes in the game with the highest carry potential and a playstyle of a true hard carry. She loves to spend the first half of the game flash-farming, and the second half winning fights for her team almost on her own. With items, she becomes one of the tankiest heroes in Dota, and her AoE attacks make her amazing in cluttered team fights.
Nikobaby's extensive guide to Bloodseeker. Inside you can find everything you need to learn to carry your team to victory (updated for 7.20):
Blood is almost the absolute opposite of Medusa in terms of playstyle. He is one of the very few carries who are great hero hunters. Because of this, in good games, he tends to snowball and a is a notorious pubstomper. Blood punishes heavily any overextensions from his opponents and even minor mistakes by the enemy team can quickly turn into a big advantage for Blood.
Even though he is a very active carry, he has good late game potential - it is not a surprise that when the metagame is more action-packed, he becomes a common pick in pro Dota.
Nikobaby's extensive guide to Necro. Inside you can find everything you need to play Necro on a high level (updated for 7.20).
Necro is one of the hardest heroes in the game to kill thanks to his skill set and his ability to abuse heals. This makes him a reliable core to a flexible laner.
Moreover, in his ult Necro has a unique mechanic - it is the only spell in the game which adds seconds to the respawn time of enemies. A single mistake by an enemy core (i.e. dying to Scythe without buyback) could easily cost them the game.
Nikobaby's extensive guide to Void. Inside you can find everything you need to learn to carry your team with the man without a face (updated for 7.20).
Void is an unusual hero because he is both one of the hardest carries in the game but also one of the best fight initiators - Chronosphere is without a doubt one of the strongest team fight spells in the game. This means his potential is great and in capable hands, he is easily able to decide the outcome of the game. At the same time, this makes him in a way twice as hard to play - you need to constantly think about your farm and carrying the game, but you also need to think about finding and initiating favorable fights for your team.
Void is one of Niko's most played heroes in pubs and he has impressive stats with him, having used him to reach the top 10 on the EU leaderboards.
